About The Post

We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join the Preparation for Adulthood Team in Barnsley. The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of The Care Act 2014, The Children Act 1989, The Mental Capacity Act legislation as well as sound understanding in Human Rights.

You will have strong social work values that lead your practice in helping young people to achieve the best outcomes possible. Alongside this, you will play a significant role in working alongside a team of Social Care Practitioners to deliver outstanding assessment and support planning skills that work across both Children’s and Adult’s services and legislation.

You will also apply strengths-based interactions within direct work to develop confidence and skills to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for the future.

PFA Social Workers will have good knowledge of legislation relating to adult social care and Children’s social care, and are able to implement this in their practice.

The ideal candidate should be willing to develop and be part of developing this new team alongside the other social workers and under the guidance of the Team Manager.

We are interested in applicants who ideally have experience of, and a passion to work with young people with various needs and are committed to providing a person-centred and strengths-based approach to their work.

Within the Preparation for Adulthood Team, we work with individuals between the ages of 14-25 within a variety of settings to maximise their independence and life opportunities. This role will require you to develop and imbed the PFA model within this new team.
