We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Personalisation Officer to join our team to support people in setting up and managing their direct payment. The role is full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £31,537 – £34,434. Contract type: Fixed Term until 31/03/2027. Working arrangement: Agile Working. Closing date: 12/06/2026 23:59.

Responsibilities

  • Support people with a wide range of care and support needs to set up their direct payment, including older people, people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs, and disabled children.
  • Work closely with individuals and their families to help them access the right support to achieve the outcomes that matter most to them.
  • Identify services and solutions that meet assessed needs, promoting independence, wellbeing, and informed choice.
  • Cost care packages accurately and ensure allocated budgets are sufficient to meet agreed support arrangements.
  • Promote the role and support recruitment of Personal Assistants across Barnsley.
  • Engage in joint visits with social care teams and lone working across the borough, demonstrating confidence working independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong organisational and person‑centred approach, committed to delivering high‑quality support.
  • Ability to speak English to an appropriate standard.
  • Enhanced DBS Check required.
  • Valid legal documents to start work (e.g., visa if applicable). Note: Barnsley Council does not sponsor visas.
