Overview
In this role you support families to enhance children's educational access and wellbeing, focusing on early intervention within a school setting. You will work closely with families, school staff, and external partners to build parenting skills and positive home–school relationships. The role emphasises collaboration, safeguarding, and multi‑agency engagement to promote attendance and mental health. This is a chance to contribute to a forward‑looking, supportive school community.

Responsibilities
- Support families to enhance children's educational access and address barriers
- Provide advice, support and guidance for parents including early help
- Help build parents' abilities to support their children positively
- Encourage good relations and dialogue between parents and the school
- Support parents and children through transitions
- Provide parenting support, run classes, and promote positive parenting
- Collaborate with schools and parents to build programmes supporting learning and well‑being
- Engage with people from diverse backgrounds in a non‑judgemental manner
- Support families of children with social, emotional, or behavioral issues
- Offer information and referrals to local services
- Facilitate parent engagement in learning and transitions
- Promote good attendance, identify causes of absence, and work with families and attendance officers
- Maintain records, evaluate work, and participate in cross‑agency groups
- Support the school’s work on positive mental health for all
- Uphold school policies and procedures
- Work with a caring school team to deliver outcomes for pupils
Key requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline
- Experience with children and families delivering support and working in communities
- Experience in a mental health role with children, school‑based preferred
- Community experience with families
- Excellent ICT and communication skills
- Strong commitment to multi‑agency working
- Good listening skills and understanding of family problems
- Ability to handle private information and sensitive issues
- Calm, confident approach in difficult situations
- Ability to work with pupils, parents, teachers and professionals
- Ability to manage workloads, keep records, and work as part of a team
- Understanding of education law and safeguarding
