About the Programme

You will spend two years on a fast‑track graduate scheme at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Across three placements you will work on key projects in sustainability, social care, regeneration and more. You will be supported by mentoring, a fully funded learning programme and a qualification from the Chartered Management Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver projects that address local priorities such as economic inactivity, health inequalities and social care improvements.
  • Collaborate with council leaders and community stakeholders to shape policy and programmes.
  • Provide effective project management, data analysis and communication across cross‑functional teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2.2 undergraduate degree or equivalent by summer 2026.
  • Right to work in the UK for the full duration of the 2‑year scheme (no visa sponsorship).
  • Live in Barnsley for at least 2 years, have studied in Barnsley, be a Barnsley Care leaver, be a Barnsley Council employee for over 1 year, or have close family connections with Barnsley.
