Key priorities for the Housing and Welfare Team include:
- Moving from a reactive crisis management homeless service to a predominantly early intervention and prevention service.
- Improving customer access and experience of the service.
- Working closely with partners to address the underlying causes of homelessness.
- Reducing the number of rough sleepers on the streets of Barnsley.
The role is based at our 24‑hour supported housing provision working alongside a team of Housing‑Led Caseworkers, providing support and advice to a range of tenants, many of whom have experienced rough sleeping.
This role requires a person with excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with members of the public, prioritise and monitor workloads to meet deadlines and work in partnership with colleagues or on your own initiative according to demands. A level 3 qualification is required.
