Position reference: 50141041. Directorate: Core Services | Service: Elections & Land Registers.

Salary: £47,181 - £50,269. Working arrangements: Agile Working. Hours per week: 37. Contract type: Fixed Term until 21/06/2027. This is a politically restricted post and requires a Basic Criminal Record Check. Prospective employees may be asked to explain significant periods of time living abroad (6 months or more in the past 3 years). Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Democratic Services team, offering effective advice and support to meetings of the Council (e.g., Planning Regulatory Board, Licensing Regulatory Board, and six Area Councils).
  • Lead the governance processes for making Council decisions, including involvement by Cabinet, and manage a team of Democratic Services Officers.
  • Ensure the organisation of and decision making in hearings such as School Admission Appeals, Independent Review Panels for School Exclusions, and various Charity Boards.
  • Collaborate with officers across the Council to ensure good governance and efficient democratic processes.
