Overview
As Capital Asset Project Manager you will lead construction and refurbishment projects within Barnsley’s three-year capital programme, focusing on residential children’s homes and education provision for SEND. You will work alongside Property Services, Children’s Services and education partners to deliver safe, compliant, affordable schemes that meet community needs. You’ll drive feasibility, design, procurement, construction and handover, ensuring milestones and budgets are met. Responsibilities
- Lead multiple construction, refurbishment and property adaptation projects
- Develop clear project scopes, delivery plans, budgets and programmes
- Coordinate feasibility studies, surveys, designs, planning applications and approvals
- Manage contractors, consultants, architects and other professional advisers
- Lead procurement activity and support the appointment of delivery partners
- Ensure projects comply with construction health and safety requirements (CDM 2015)
- Monitor contractor performance, site safety, quality, cost, risks and milestones
- Identify delays, cost pressures and compliance issues early and take action
- Maintain project documentation, risk registers, forecasts and progress reports
- Report to senior managers and governance meetings
- Collaborate with property, legal, procurement, finance, planning, education and children’s services colleagues
- Coordinate completion, commissioning, snagging, certification and handover
- Help establish consistent capital delivery standards across the programme
