Job Profile
Reporting to the Arboriculture Team Leader, you will carry out a full range of arboricultural duties both on the ground and at height. You will be responsible for standby emergency cover for tree‑related incidents and must comply with the Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure. Availability outside normal working hours as part of a standby rota is required, and a standardised standby payment will be made for these duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out chainsaw work, tree dismantling, felling of mature trees, rope and harness work, aerial rescue, and MEWP operations.
- Work effectively in all weather conditions, meeting targets and deadlines while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Interpret plans, drawings and briefing notes.
- Communicate effectively with service users, council officers, ward members and the public.
- Provide standby emergency cover outside normal working hours as part of the out‑of‑hours emergency cover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified in a range of arboricultural disciplines (chainsaw, rope and harness, aerial rescue, MEWP).
- Experience working at height and in all weather conditions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Additional Conditions
- Standby payment will be made for out‑of‑hours duties.
- Compliance with Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure.
- Receipt of a pension may affect pension entitlements if returning to local government service.
- Must have necessary legal documents for employment; no visa sponsorship available.
