Welfare and Funding Team Leader – Barnsley College Student services Salary: £22,165 to £24,218 per annum (£30,375 to £33,179 pro rata) Contract Type: Permanent | Part time – 27 hours per week Reference: REC2044 | Closing date: Tuesday 3rd December 2024 The opportunity Barnsley College is seeking an experienced Funding/Welfare Team Leader to manage, assess, and forecast Learner Support Funds within the Further Education sector. You will lead our Funding and wellbeing teams, dedicated to improving the support we offer to students. In this role, you will drive positive change in our funding and wellbeing services, prioritising student welfare and demonstrating initiative to analyse trends and innovate support practices. Building strong partnerships with external health and financial services and staying updated on EFA, SFA, and HEFCE guidance will be essential. You will work closely with the Head of Student Services to implement efficient policies and procedures, manage Student Services Advisers, and oversee the allocation of EFA, SFA, and HEFCE funds, including bursaries and hardship funds. Your responsibilities will include leading the management of Learner Support Funds, reporting on expenditures, and collaborating with other departments to enhance student support services. Additionally, you will assess the impact of financial support on student retention and achievement. You will ensure effective resource use, maintain robust financial systems, and develop the Funding and Wellbeing teams. Planning and leading team meetings, supporting initiatives, and identifying training needs will also be key aspects of your role. About you We are ideally seeking someone with a strong financial background, as the role will involve project fund management. You will be supported in driving positive change and shaping the welfare and wellbeing services within the College. This position will suit a Team Leader who is passionate about student welfare and wellbeing and can use their initiative to track trends and adapt practices to innovate our support services. Key Qualifications: * Strong administrative skills, particularly in Excel. * Experience in managing staff and supporting them in achieving targets within an educational setting. * Financial experience in managing budgets, including familiarity with auditing processes. * The ability to form and maintain strong working partnerships with external financial and health services. * Strong organisational skills to keep up to date with financial guidance set by the EFA, SFA, and HEFCE.
