This contract offers full-time hours across 38 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during the academic terms, with some additional duties outside of term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.

We are recruiting for two Trainer/Assessor roles, offering an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in shaping learner success within our Childcare and Health department. This is a predominantly assessor-focused role, where you will directly impact learners’ readiness for and success in industry placements and assessment outcomes.

Working primarily with learners on the T Level in Education and Early Years, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of learners, supporting their progress and achievement
  • Prepare learners to confidently demonstrate skills, knowledge and behaviours in placement settings
  • Ensure readiness for industry placement assessment windows

You’ll need strong organisation and time management skills, particularly during peak assessment periods where deadlines are set by awarding bodies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting work-based assessments during key assessment windows
  • Monitoring progress to ensure timely and successful completion
  • Providing clear, developmental feedback
  • Working with employers to ensure high-quality placement experiences

We’re looking for a motivated, organised and learner-focused professional who is passionate about supporting individuals to succeed in real-world childcare environments. You will bring a strong combination of industry experience, assessment expertise, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Confident in managing a caseload, you will be able to plan and meet strict assessment deadlines, particularly during high-pressure periods.

You will be skilled at providing clear, constructive feedback that builds confidence and drives progress, and have a strong understanding of work-based assessment, supporting learners to evidence competence in placement settings. You will also:

  • Build positive, professional relationships with employers
  • Proactively monitor learner progress and implement timely interventions
  • Confidently use digital platforms and e-portfolios
  • Understand the Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and quality standards
  • Motivate and support a diverse range of learners

As an individual, you will be resilient, adaptable and self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Above all, you will be committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and creating a supportive learning environment where every learner can thrive.

Required

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification
  • Assessor Awards D32/33 or A1/2 or willingness to work towards
  • Level 4 teaching qualification e.g. CTLLS (or willingness to work towards)
  • Level 2/GCSE maths and English qualifications (C or above)
  • At least 2 years’ work experience in a relevant discipline
  • Have experience working in practice
  • Experience of delivering learning to a range of learners
  • Experience of developing learning materials
