Landscaping Teacher Department: Land Based Industries Salary: £28,964 to £32,532 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week Reference: REC2206 | Closing Date: Wednesday, 30th July 2025 The Opportunity Based at our Wigfield Farm campus, you’ll work in a scenic, practical environment equipped with outdoor teaching spaces, gardens, greenhouses, and a full range of commercial grounds maintenance equipment. You will help shape the skills and confidence of future professionals in the landscaping and horticulture sector. In this role, you’ll plan and deliver hands-on lessons across a variety of landscaping topics, such as hard and soft landscaping, plant knowledge, soil science, garden design, and machinery operation. Your teaching will reach a diverse group of learners, including school leavers on Level 1–3 programmes, adults returning to education, and apprentices who are already employed in the industry. You’ll focus on creating a welcoming and engaging classroom environment that supports learners in developing both technical skills and confidence. Working closely with the Curriculum Team, you’ll help to develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that meet both curriculum requirements and industry standards. You’ll play an active role in assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback, while also ensuring that records are kept up to date in line with college and awarding body expectations. Practical work will form a key part of your teaching. You’ll organise and supervise landscaping activities and projects on campus and, where appropriate, at external sites. You’ll also promote professional behaviours, sustainability, and safe working practices throughout your sessions. You’ll contribute to quality assurance processes, curriculum development, and student enrichment activities, as well as employer engagement and progression planning. About You We’re looking for someone who brings both passion and practical experience in landscaping or horticulture. You’ll need strong technical skills across a range of landscaping areas, such as hard and soft landscaping, plant identification, machinery operation, garden design, or soil science. You’ll be confident working with a variety of learners, including young people and adults, and you’ll understand how to adapt your approach to support different learning styles and needs. Communication, organisation, and the ability to plan and deliver engaging, practical sessions will be key.
