GCSE Maths & English Teacher Department: Construction Salary: £27,350 to £41,194 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week Reference: REC2184 | Closing Date: Tuesday, 29th July 2025 The Opportunity Based at our state-of-the-art CUBE Construction Centre, you’ll be teaching GCSE Maths and English to our learners working towards careers in the construction industry. Your role sits within the Construction department, where you’ll be supporting our students to achieve their core academic qualifications alongside their vocational training. You’ll bring learning to life by linking core subjects to real-world contexts. Working closely with Construction tutors, you’ll tailor your lessons to ensure that English and Maths feel relevant, practical, and accessible to students training in trades such as bricklaying, joinery, plumbing, electrical installation, and painting and decorating. Some of our learners may have previously found these subjects challenging, so your ability to build confidence and engagement will be key. Your work will involve planning and delivering engaging lessons, tracking progress, and providing individual support to help students overcome any barriers to learning. You’ll also contribute to the wider development of the curriculum, ensuring your teaching supports the department’s aims and meets the needs of your learners. By helping students secure their GCSE qualifications, you’ll be giving them access to further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. You’ll also play an important part in maintaining high standards of behaviour, attendance, and respect across your classes, contributing positively to the college’s culture and values. About You You are an experienced educator who enjoys helping students see the value in Maths and English especially those who may have found these subjects difficult in the past. You know how to make learning click by linking lessons to real life situations. With at least one year of experience in an education setting you understand how to support learners at different levels. You have delivered learning to a range of students and know how to adapt your style to keep them engaged motivated and making progress. You have also developed your own learning materials, so you know what it takes to create content that really works in the classroom. You are confident in planning fun engaging lessons that spark interest and show students how these core skills connect to their chosen careers whether that is bricklaying joinery plumbing electrical installation or painting and decorating. You are adaptable thoughtful and always ready to try new ways of helping students learn and grow. You enjoy being part of a team and working closely with vocational tutors to create the best possible experience for learners. You are happy to contribute to the curriculum and always keep your focus on what is best for your students. You understand the importance of creating a positive classroom environment where behaviour is strong attendance is high and everyone feels respected.
