Film, TV & Photography Teacher
Salary: £28,964 to £32,532 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time 37 hours per week

The Opportunity
You will play a key role in delivering creative and engaging teaching across a variety of media disciplines. Based in our Digital and Creative Industries department, you will support our learners on HE programmes through hands-on delivery in film production, live television broadcasting, photography and post-production techniques – both in studio and on location.
You will bring your specialist knowledge of industry-standard equipment and software, including DSLR and SLR cameras, lighting control, visual effects and the Adobe Creative Suite. Your sessions will be practical and inspiring, giving our learners the chance to build their technical skills and grow in confidence as creative professionals. Through regular assessment and feedback, you will guide our learners in reaching their full potential and achieving their goals.
You will plan and prepare lessons that reflect current industry practice and meet the needs of the curriculum. You will also take part in curriculum development, quality assurance and enrichment activities that enhance the student experience. In addition, you may act as a personal tutor, offering valuable academic and pastoral support.

About You
For this role, you will need to bring creativity, specialist knowledge and enthusiasm for Film, TV or Photography. You should be confident working with industry-standard equipment and software, including DSLR or SLR cameras, studio lighting, visual effects tools and the Adobe Creative Suite. Whether your experience comes from industry, education or both, you will be comfortable applying your skills in a teaching environment.
To be successful in this role, you will need a relevant degree and either a teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one. A strong portfolio of work and experience in either education or the media industry are essential. You will also need a good understanding of current industry trends and the ability to translate these into engaging and meaningful learning experiences for our students.
You will have a passion for supporting others and a natural ability to engage and motivate our learners in a higher education setting. Strong organisation and planning skills will help you deliver high-quality, practical sessions that encourage our learners to think independently and develop their own creative identity. You will work well as part of a team and be ready to get involved in curriculum planning, enrichment activities and quality assurance. Most importantly, you will take a learner-focused approach and show a commitment to your own professional development as you help others grow in their creative careers.

Required
- Degree (or equivalent) in Film, TV, Photography or related media subject
- Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards PGCE if not already held
- GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications)
- At least 2 years’ experience in education or the media industry
- Strong media portfolio (e.g. showreel, website, client work) and willingness to share examples
- Experience using DSLR/SLR cameras, lenses, lighting, studios and broadcast equipment
