The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and student-centred CEIAG Advisor to join Barnsley College’s Student Services team at an exciting time of development and change. This is a pivotal role within the College’s central Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) service, supporting students across 14–16, FE, HE and apprenticeships to raise aspirations and achieve positive progression outcomes.
In this role, you will plan and deliver high-quality, impartial CEIAG through a combination of one-to-one guidance, group sessions, tutorials, workshops and events. You will provide expert advice to students and staff on careers pathways, Labour Market Information (LMI), UCAS and progression opportunities, ensuring provision meets statutory duties and national guidance.
You will play a key role in the operation and development of the College’s UCAS service, including system management, reporting, staff support and student guidance. Working proactively across the College, you will collaborate with curriculum teams and Student Services colleagues to embed CEIAG within tutorial, enrichment and personal development programmes.
The post holder will develop strong partnerships with external agencies and stakeholders, including targeted IAG services and regional and national careers organisations, to enhance the College’s careers offer and ensure students access high-quality information and opportunities.
Alongside direct delivery, you will contribute to monitoring and reporting destinations data, supporting interventions to improve retention and positive progression. You will support the College’s work towards the Quality in Careers Standard and Matrix accreditation, contributing evidence, insight and good practice to support continuous improvement. You will also contribute to service development, reporting and business planning, and represent CEIAG at meetings and events as required.
This is an excellent opportunity to influence and shape CEIAG provision across the College, working within a collaborative Student Services team committed to inclusion, aspiration and student success.
