As a Teaching and Learning Coach (Learning Innovation), you will play a key role in shaping a culture of everyday excellence, supporting staff to deliver exceptional learning experiences for all students by embedding high-quality, inclusive, and consistent use of everyday digital tools across teaching, learning and assessment. You will contribute to the strategic development of Teaching, Learning and Assessment across the College, working collaboratively with curriculum managers and colleagues to champion innovation, reflective practice, and continuous professional development.

You will design and deliver impactful digital development activities, offer personalised coaching, and lead initiatives that enhance the quality of teaching across all curriculum areas. Working within a supportive and forward‑thinking team, you will help to create professional development pathways, develop innovative resources, and contribute to whole‑College digital improvement activity. You will also play an important role in the induction and ongoing development of teaching staff, helping to embed professional habits, reflective practice, and high standards from day one.

You will be an enthusiastic educator with a strong understanding of what exceptional teaching and learning looks like. You will bring credible experience of delivering innovative and impactful teaching within the FE sector, along with proven success in supporting staff to improve their practice. You will have experience designing and delivering effective staff development, as well as a track record of coaching and mentoring colleagues towards meaningful improvement.

You will be confident in conducting observations of teaching and learning, making accurate judgments, and using evidence to drive forward high-quality practice. You are a digitally confident and learner‑focused practitioner with a passion for improving everyday teaching through the effective use of technology. You will have experience embedding digital tools into teaching, learning and assessment in a way that is purposeful, inclusive, and consistent across curriculum areas.

You will be skilled at translating strategy into practical classroom approaches, supporting colleagues to build confidence, develop high‑quality resources, and adopt digitally enhanced teaching practices. With a strong understanding of accessibility, engagement, and cognitive science, you will ensure digital approaches move beyond content delivery to active, impactful learning. You will be collaborative, proactive, and committed to raising standards, helping to create a culture where digital practice is embedded, sustainable, and focused on learner success.

Your knowledge of external frameworks, such as the Ofsted Framework, Apprenticeship standards, and JISC/ETF technology standards, will enable you to support strategic alignment and compliance, ensuring teaching improvements are grounded in sector expectations and research‑informed approaches. Personally, you will be positive, adaptable, and solution‑focused, with the ability to inspire confidence in others. You will communicate clearly and objectively, build strong professional relationships, and contribute proactively to a collaborative, ambitious, and innovative team environment.

Qualifications
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards PGCE/Level 5 if not already held)
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area or significant sector experience
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
  • Evidence of exceptional and innovative teaching practice within FE
  • Effective coaching and mentoring skills to support improvement in teaching practice
  • Experience delivering innovative and well‑received staff development training
  • Experience undertaking observations of Teaching, Learning and Assessment, making accurate judgments and using outcomes to drive improvement
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based and research‑informed teaching and learning approaches
  • Proven ability to embed everyday digital tools into teaching, learning and assessment to enhance learner engagement, accessibility and progress.
