The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Sixth Form Manager with a strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and learner‑centred practice. This is a key leadership role within our Sixth Form, working collaboratively with curriculum and pastoral teams to ensure outstanding outcomes and support for students. You will be a highly motivated and experienced leader with the confidence to implement change, challenge constructively, and lead difficult conversations where required. A relentless focus on supporting student progress and wellbeing is essential, alongside a passion for sharing best practice across teams and the wider college network. Experience of performance tracking and monitoring systems to measure Value Added (ALPS/OneGrade), timetabling and exam co‑ordination is highly desirable.
Barnsley Sixth Form College, opened in 2016, provides a first‑class learning environment for A Level students from South Yorkshire and beyond. Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Subject specific Degree
- Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards Level 6 PGCE if not already held)
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Evidence of updated CPD
- Minimum 3 years' teaching experience of A Level
- Experience of course management
- Evidence of having carried out and maintained good practice in the teaching role/delivery
- Evidence of innovative and creative curriculum and programme development, including course co‑ordination
- Evidence of contributing to quality assurance systems
- Evidence of delivering high quality support for students that resulted in sustained improvements in progress
- Evidence of tracking, monitoring and implementing interventions to improve student progress
