If you have a strong background in creative media, extensive video production experience and expertise in green screen production and visual effects workflows, we would love to hear from you. As a Creative Media professional, you will plan and deliver inspiring lessons and practical workshops across film, television, radio production, broadcasting and video production.
You will work closely with colleagues to develop and deliver an ambitious curriculum spanning Level 2 programs, T Levels courses and more, ensuring students develop the knowledge and technical skills expected by today's creative industries. A key aspect of the role will be supporting students in professional video production from pre-production planning through to filming, editing and post-production.
Experience using professional cameras, lighting, audio equipment and editing software is essential, alongside the ability to teach and demonstrate industry-standard production techniques. You will also be expected to have experience of working with green screen technology and virtual production techniques including studio lighting, compositing and visual effects. Our purpose-built green screen visual effects studio forms a central part of our teaching, enabling students to produce professional quality content for film, television, broadcast and digital media. Confidence in operating within this environment and sharing best practice with learners is highly desirable.
Beyond teaching, you will mentor and inspire students to develop their creative, technical and professional skills, helping them realise their potential within the creative and digital industries. You will oversee student productions, ensuring projects meet professional standards, develop engaging digital learning resources, collaborate with industry partners to bring current practice into the classroom and organise events that showcase and celebrate student achievement.
Our Creative Media department boasts outstanding industry standard facilities including a state-of-the-art green screen visual effects studio, live television and award-winning radio studios, high specification camera systems, professional lighting and audio equipment and industry standard editing and production software. Experience working confidently across these facilities and technologies is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Creative Media, Film Production, Television Production, Broadcasting, Digital Design or a related discipline. You will have substantial industry experience in video production, film and television production, broadcasting and/or digital media together with a strong understanding of current production workflows and emerging technologies. A teaching qualification is desirable although support will be provided for the right candidate who is willing to work towards one.
You will be an excellent communicator with experience of working collaboratively, preferably within an educational environment. Strong organisational skills, creativity, adaptability and proficiency with industry standard production and editing software are essential, along with a genuine passion for inspiring the next generation of creative professionals.
By joining Barnsley College, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people while working within a supportive, forward-thinking team. You'll benefit from excellent professional development opportunities, access to outstanding facilities and the chance to help shape the future of creative media education.
