Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time 37 hours per week

Term Time Contracts: This contract offers full-time hours across 38 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during the academic terms, with some additional duties outside of term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.

The Opportunity: You’ll play a key role in creating a supportive, accessible, and well-organised environment for our students. Based in our modern Learning Resource Centre, The Learning Curve, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the space, making it easy for learners and staff to access a wide range of learning resources, library services, and digital tools. Your contribution will help everyone make the most of their time in the centre.

You’ll be hands-on with tasks such as issuing and returning books, shelving materials, managing laptop loans, and maintaining a tidy, organised environment. You will support learners and staff with the library catalogue, logging on and off computers, booking study spaces, printing, and accessing online resources. You’ll also help students connect their own devices to college systems, including WiFi, printers, email, and multi-factor authentication, providing first-line support to ensure they can access the digital tools they need for learning.

In addition, you will:

  • Support the delivery of library inductions and provide one-to-one guidance
  • Help learners develop confidence using both physical and digital resources
  • Monitor and support print services
  • Provide basic support for student PCs and core software
  • Contribute to the development of eLearning and digital literacy resources

You will also monitor how the space is used, gather learner feedback, and promote positive behaviour in line with our values. While this is not a teaching role, your Level 3 teaching qualification will support your ability to guide students in independent learning and study skills. You’ll ensure that college systems, policies, and procedures are followed, maintaining an efficient, safe, and welcoming environment. Beyond your core duties, you will contribute to an inclusive, learner-centred culture, championing equality, diversity, and safeguarding, and supporting the wider work of the Student Services team.

About You: You’ll be approachable, organised, and confident in supporting learners in a busy, dynamic environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in helping others succeed. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly—whether helping a student access online resources, connect a device, or locate study materials.

You will bring:

  • Recent experience working with IT systems in a professional setting
  • Strong digital skills, including supporting users with devices, software, and online services
  • Confidence troubleshooting basic technical issues
  • Experience in a customer-focused environment, with a commitment to excellent service

You’ll understand the importance of delivering high-quality customer service and be able to respond to queries in a calm, professional, and solution-focused manner. This is a fast-paced role, so you’ll need to remain focused and composed when managing competing priorities, while maintaining attention to detail. You’ll also be a collaborative team player who contributes positively to the service and supports colleagues when needed.

While the role does not involve direct teaching, a Level 3 teaching qualification is required to demonstrate your ability to support student learning. You will also be confident in addressing inappropriate behaviour when necessary and committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and safeguarding.

Required:

  • A minimum of four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and Maths
  • A recognised teaching qualification eg Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent or a willingness to achieve this within one year of appointment
  • Recent experience of working confidently with IT systems in a professional setting
  • Excellent digital and IT skills including the ability to support users with devices, software, and online services
  • A background in a customer-focused environment with a clear understanding of quality service delivery
