Hourly Rate: £15.96

Contract Type: Variable Hours

Variable Hours contract for services: you may choose which work offers to accept. We will provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, but there is no obligation for work to be offered, nor any obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with small groups of students, supporting and guiding them to make meaningful progress in their vocational and academic qualifications. You will use a range of learning strategies, assessments, and interventions to help students overcome challenges and reach their individual potential. You will also support students with English, helping them to develop the skills they need to succeed in their studies.

You will collaborate with curriculum teams to design and deliver tailored support, ensuring interventions are effective and informed by each student’s needs. You will help monitor progress, record outcomes, and report on attendance and achievement, creating a clear picture of student development.

You will plan and deliver small group sessions, using appropriate teaching and learning resources including online technologies. You will foster positive relationships with learners, motivating them to engage with their programmes and achieve their goals, while contributing to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

About You

You are passionate about supporting students and enjoy helping them overcome challenges, improve skills, and achieve goals. You understand the importance of academic and personal development and take pride in making a real difference in learners’ lives.

You have strong knowledge of English and can confidently support students in core subjects, through mentoring, tutoring, or practical strategies.

You have experience in education or mentoring, working with students in schools, colleges, or training settings, delivering small group or one‑to‑one sessions, and engaging learners with a range of teaching strategies.

You are collaborative and flexible, working well as part of a team, communicating effectively with curriculum staff, and adapting your approach to meet individual learners’ needs.

You are organised, able to plan and deliver sessions, track progress, record outcomes, and report on student achievement and attendance, fostering a positive learning environment and building strong relationships with learners.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
  • Experience in supporting students to succeed
  • Experience of working within an education setting
  • Experience of working with a range of learners
  • Experience of working with ages 16+ learners in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of requirements for success in qualifications and ability to comprehend unfamiliar qualifications
  • Understanding of the learning and pastoral needs of FE learners
