About Barnsgrove Clubhouse
Barnsgrove is a private members' Clubhouse in Greywell, Hampshire. Opened two years ago, we are building a community around social, work and wellbeing: a place to belong, connect in and grow with. Our members come to socialise, work, meet, learn and recharge, and everything we do is about making them feel welcome, supported and part of something very unique.
The Role
We are looking for a warm, commercially minded and proactive person to join our senior team and lead the growth of our membership and community. We have an ambition to grow our membership significantly over the next year. That growth matters because it makes our community stronger, more diverse and more sustainable. Just as importantly, it should come from people who genuinely connect with what Barnsgrove offers.
You will play a central role in making this happen: building relationships, welcoming prospective members, developing partnerships and working closely with our marketing team to turn interest into membership. You will take ownership of membership growth while helping to create an environment where members feel connected, valued and keen to stay involved. This is a hands-on role at the heart of the Clubhouse. You will be a visible, trusted presence for members and the team, with the autonomy to bring ideas, work to your strengths and take ownership.
You will be part of the team across all areas of the Clubhouse, keeping an eye on how everything fits together. You should be equally comfortable giving a tour, following up with a prospective member, developing a partnership or helping deliver an event.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth
- Manage membership enquiries, give tours and presentations, follow up promptly and help prospective members decide whether Barnsgrove is right for them.
- Proactively generate new interest through networking, referrals, outreach and partnerships with organisations and teams across the social, work, health and wellbeing sectors.
- Work closely with the marketing team to follow up campaign leads, including leads generated through Meta, and improve conversion from marketing activity to membership.
- Support new members through onboarding and a warm welcome, and lead renewal and off-boarding conversations with care.
- Track enquiries, tours, conversions and sign-ups, sharing insights with the senior team to identify what is working and where we can improve.
Community and Member Experience
- Be a visible, approachable presence across the Clubhouse, getting to know members and understanding how they use the space.
- Build connections between members and encourage participation, helping people get the most from their membership and feel part of the community.
- Gather member feedback and use it to identify opportunities to improve the experience, strengthen retention and encourage referrals.
- Handle member concerns and complaints fairly, promptly and with good judgement. Events,
Partnerships and Programme
- Work with the Founder and team to plan, promote and deliver events and activities that bring members together, strengthen the community and welcome prospective members.
- Develop relationships with speakers, event organisers and external partners to broaden the reach and value of the programme.
- Look for opportunities to connect the events programme with membership growth, partnerships and the wider development of Barnsgrove.
Senior Team Contribution
- Be a trusted and collaborative member of the senior team, contributing ideas, sharing responsibility and helping turn priorities into action.
- Work closely with colleagues across all areas of the Clubhouse, recognising that everyone plays a part in creating a welcoming, well-run environment.
- Share responsibility for the smooth running of the Clubhouse, supporting colleagues and helping cover responsibilities when team members are away or unavailable.
- Act as an escalation point for the team when needed, using sound judgement and working collaboratively to resolve issues.
- Contribute to planning and decisions about the future direction of Barnsgrove, taking ownership of membership and community priorities and reporting on progress.
