Barnowl Farm Shop is a family-run farm shop, part of Barnowl Jerseys, looking for a motivated individual to progress within a career in butchery, with support from our experienced butcher. This position provides a unique opportunity to see the provenance from farm to fridge.
Based on a farm in Evenley, near Brackley, Barnowl Farm Shop has been operating for over 5 years as part of the farm's diversification of Barnowl Jerseys. The shop and butchers' counter are open 7 days a week, and we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and quality products sourced as locally as reasonably possible. We rear high-quality dairy cows, some beef, and native breed (Oxford Sandy and Black) pigs.
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Butcher Improver located in Brackley. The individual in this role will assist with various butchery tasks, from processing the carcass to producing retail products. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cutting products
- Ensuring quality standards are met
- Maintaining a clean and safe workspace
- Assisting with stock management
- Customer service duties, such as assisting with inquiries and ensuring customer satisfaction
Operating in conjunction with our Master Butcher to support 7-day service provision.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Butchery and competence in processing core meats
- Knowledge of Meat Processing techniques and safety/hygiene standards
- Strong Customer Service skills with the ability to interact professionally
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing for extended periods
- Prior experience in a similar role or relevant training is advantageous
