Location: Barnhill Community High School

Salary: £31,169 per annum (Scale 6, Point 20) actual salary

Contract Type: part-time, permanent

Working Weeks: 38 weeks (37 term time + 5 INSET days)

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 16:00 with an unpaid 40-minute lunch break.

Staff Wellbeing: We have a well-regarded staff wellbeing program that focuses on enabling staff to concentrate on their work. Support measures include flexible working options, wellbeing events, and staff celebrations.

The Role: To promote a positive and supportive ethos in the student body. To support student development, behaviour, attitudes, attendance and safeguarding in a designated key stage. To support students’ learning progress and to support parent engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the daily first point of contact for students requiring support.
  • Record and report safeguarding matters using the school's systems.
  • Support a caseload of students requiring mentoring, counselling, and lower-level safeguarding concerns.
  • Actively encourage interaction with parents as required.
  • Keep accurate and intelligible records of students (e.g., those with particular needs, those with adapted curricula, those receiving counselling).
  • Plan and deliver interventions that help students build confidence and resilience, enabling them to manage their own dilemmas and prevent further problems.
