Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 16:00 with an unpaid 40-minute lunch break.
About the School: Barnhill is a heavily oversubscribed, high performing school that places wellbeing and quality of life at the heart of its ethos. It performs in and around the top 5% of schools in the country and was judged to be outstanding by Ofsted in February 2024. The sixth form was judged to be a very strong aspect of the school in the inspection. Staff Wellbeing: We have a well-regarded staff wellbeing program that focuses on enabling staff to concentrate on their work. Support measures include flexible working options, wellbeing events, and staff celebrations.
The Role: To promote a positive and supportive ethos in the student body. To support student development, behaviour, attitudes, attendance and safeguarding in a designated key stage. To support students’ learning progress and to support parent engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the daily first point of contact for students requiring support.
- Record and report safeguarding matters using the school's systems.
- Support a caseload of students requiring mentoring, counselling, and lower-level safeguarding concerns.
- Actively encourage interaction with parents as required.
- Keep accurate and intelligible records of students (e.g., those with particular needs, those with adapted curricula, those receiving counselling).
- Plan and deliver interventions that help students build confidence and resilience, enabling them to manage their own dilemmas and prevent further problems.
