The Role
Barnhillare looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and compassionate individual to joinour supportive and ambitious Inclusion Team. PURPOSE OF JOB:
To support the school's vision offensuring that every student is safe, attend school, engages with their learningand is able to thrive, achieving their full potential.
TheInclusion, Wellbeing and Family Liaison Officer will work as a key member ofthe Inclusion team, proactively supporting students and families to identify,remove and overcome barriers to learning, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing andbelonging. The postholder will serve as a key link between home and school,providing early intervention, pastoral support and coordinated access toexternal services and internal provision.
Workingunder the direction of the Assistant Headteacher Inclusion and alongside theSEND, pastoral and attendance teams, the post holder will contribute to theconsistent implementation of the Inclusion strategy across the school.
The Inclusion, Wellbeing andFamily Liaison Officer will work proactively with students and families toidentify and remove barriers to learning, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing andbelonging. The postholder will serve as a key link between home and school,providing early intervention, pastoral support and coordinated access toexternal services and internal provision.
Main Responsibilities
- Supportthe implementation of the school's inclusion strategy.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, belonging andpositive relationships across the school.
- Oversee the day to day running of the InclusionHub.
- Teach andlead some core interventions to close the gaps in learning
- Identifyand support students who may be vulnerable or at risk of underachievement,exclusion or disengagement.
- Workclosely with the AHT Inclusion, SENCO, Heads of Year and pastoral teams toensure students receive appropriate support.
- Monitorthe progress, wellbeing and engagement of identified students.
- Supportreintegration programmes for students returning from periods of absence,suspension or alternative provision.
- Maintain accurate records of student support,family contact, interventions and outcomes.
- Supportstudentsidentified as EBSNA (Emotional based school non-attendance) and those who areat risk with bespoke plans and interventions.
- Contribute to theAssess, Plan, Do, Review where appropriate for SEND students.
- contribute and complete early help/ social careassessments and referrals
- Attendall relevant meetings
- Promote aculture of inclusion, belonging and positive relationships across the school.
- Contributeto the development and review of student support plans.
- Developstrong and positive relationships with parents and carers.
- Act as akey point of contact for families experiencing difficulties impacting theirchild's education.
- Providesupport, advice and guidance to families regarding attendance, behaviour,wellbeing and school engagement.
- Undertakehome visits where appropriate and in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
- Facilitatemeetings with parents, students and school staff to address emerging concerns.
- Supportfamilies through significant life events including bereavement, familybreakdown, housing difficulties and other challenges.
- Developeffective working relationships withrelevant external agencies and professionals.
- Signpostfamilies to relevant support services and community organisations.
- Promotepositive parental engagement with school life.
- Workcollaboratively with the Attendance Lead to improve student attendance andpunctuality.
- Identifyattendance concerns and implement early intervention strategies.
- Monitorattendance data and support targeted students and families.
- Conductattendance meetings and home visits.
- Supportstrategies to reduce persistent and severe absence.
- Promotepositive attitudes towards school attendance and engagement.
- Workwithstudents experiencing emotionally based school avoidance.
- Liaisewith the school attendance team as required
- Promotepositive mental health and emotional wellbeing across the school.
- Provideearly intervention support for students experiencing emotional difficulties.
- Deliveror facilitate targeted wellbeing programmes and interventions.
- Workalongside the Mental Health Lead, pastoral staff and external services.
- Supportstudents experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, friendship difficulties oremotional regulation needs.
- Assist indeveloping resilience, confidence and self-management skills.
- Contributeto whole-school wellbeing initiatives and awareness campaigns.
Safeguarding
- Workclosely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and safeguarding team.
- Recogniseand report safeguarding concerns in line of the school procedures.
- Supportvulnerable students and families through safeguarding processes.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely records.
- Attendsafeguarding and multi‑agency meetings as required.
- Contributeto Early Help assessments and plans.
- Ensure afeguarding remains central to all aspects of the role.
Desirable
- Graduate with an interest inworking in a mainstream school setting
- QTS in primary or secondary, to support the teaching in the Inclusion Hub
- Experience of working in amainstream setting
- Experienceof monitoring and evaluation.
Aptitude
- Abilityto work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Some experience of working withstudents who have Special Educational Needs.
- Abilityto use complete administrative tasks.
- Abilityto relate positively to young people with behavioural, emotional and learningdifficulties
- Willingnessto work constructively within schools
- Abilityto relate to people across a wide age and ability range and from diversesocial, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
- Abilityto fit in with and to enhance the work of existing teams within the school.
- Abilityto identify potential barrier to learning and jointly engage in strategies toovercome those barriers
The post holder will be expected to undertake such tasks as are commensurate withthe position and on the direction of the Head Teacher.
