We have an exciting, permanent opportunity for a Software QA Technician / Software Test Automation Technician to join our Amersham office (hybrid working).

Our software development teams are based in the Amersham, Bristol, Cheltenham, Leeds and London offices. The teams produce software for internal use by staff and for external use by clients and intermediaries through the web, and produce a wide variety of business systems that are used across all our practice areas. The position of Software QA Technician / Software Test Automation Technician consists of managing, creating and implementing the automation of software test scripts and processes in order to ensure developed software meets user requirements.

A snapshot of your day:

This Software Test Automation Technician will be required to support the Software Development and QA teams in:

  • Planning, creating and maintaining of tests, automated or otherwise

  • Designing and implementing regression test suites

  • Working with Software QA Technicians in the development of automated tests to increase returns in efforts

  • Reviewing and improving software testing and development procedures as expected of every member of a team

  • Contributing to software testing needs, in order to ensure sprint deliveries can be made confidently and on time

  • Monitoring and reporting of test runs and results

  • Participating in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules or potential problems

  • Investigating reported issues, ensuring they are being properly tackled and work to actively prevent regression errors

  • Designing and implementing automated regression test suite

  • Evaluating our current test strategy and looking for constant development and improvement

  • Liaising with the development team and stakeholders to scope and estimate testing requirements

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Excellent attention to detail and demonstrable understanding of the software development and testing lifecycle

  • Experience in exploratory testing across various platforms is essential

  • Experience in regression testing design, implementation and management is essential

  • Experience in with issue logging, defect management, tracking and resolution tools and processes is essential

  • Experience in Agile methodology and how this applies to Testing processes and software development life cycles is essential

  • Exposure to coding with understanding of basic software development concepts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Visual Studio, Azure Devops, GIT, oWASP and CI/CD is highly desirable

  • Experience with API testing highly desirable

  • Experience with TDD, BDD and ACTD is highly desirable

  • Experience of Test Automation tools and techniques is highly desirable

  • ISTQB testing qualification is highly desirable but not essential

  • A strong and proven ability to solve problems and think laterally

  • Excellent self-learning skills with a willingness/aptitude to learn new things quickly
