Role Overview

Barnet Football Club is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised Physiotherapist to join our First Team Medical Department.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering elite medical care to our first-team players, supporting injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation and return-to-play strategies while working within a multidisciplinary performance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment for first-team players.
  • Design and implement individual rehabilitation programmes.
  • Provide pitch-side medical cover at all training sessions and fixtures (home and away).
  • Assist with injury prevention strategies and prehabilitation programmes.
  • Monitor player availability and communicate daily medical updates to coaching staff.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and injury surveillance.
  • Work alongside Strength & Conditioning staff to optimise player performance.
  • Manage return-to-play protocols using objective testing and evidence-based practice.
  • Liaise with consultants, surgeons and external healthcare professionals when required.
  • Ensure compliance with FA, EFL and Club medical governance.
  • Assist with medical screening during pre-season and throughout the season.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the club’s medical department.

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • CSP Membership.
  • FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management qualification -
  • ATMMi F
  • Valid DBS.
  • Valid Safeguarding qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working within elite football or professional sport.
  • Excellent manual therapy and rehabilitation skills.
  • Strong understanding of return-to-play criteria.
  • Experience using GPS and athlete monitoring systems.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-performance environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the EFL, Premier League or National League
  • Experience with force plate testing and performance technology.
  • Strength & Conditioning knowledge.
  • Experience with youth player development.
  • Emergency pitch-side qualifications beyond the minimum requirements.
