The Acute Occupational Therapy Inpatient Team provides assessment and treatment programmes to clients on the three Adults inpatient wards (Sunflower, Tulip and Daisy). The Team offers both Specialist Therapy assessments and a needs-led, client-centred Activity and Therapy Programme on the wards and in the therapy department nearby.
Clients on the inpatient wards often present with acute or enduring mental health symptoms, sometimes with co-existing physical diagnoses. Some clients may have been detained under the Mental Health Act and require support in reintegration into the community post-admission.
The therapy role involves functional assessments and providing professional advice to inform risk assessments and discharge plans, working collaboratively with Multi-Disciplinary Teams. The Team Leader provides professional leadership to ensure an integrated Occupational Therapy service across the three adult wards.

- Qualifications: Dip. COT/ MSc OT/ BSc OT; Additional relevant training (e.g., Sensory Integration)
- Skills: Supervising and appraising junior staff and students; Conducting functional assessments; Managing a small OT team of OTs and TIs; Effective teaching skills; Strong written communication for assessments and reports; Experience in inpatient and community settings; Using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO); Contributing to OT service development; Relating to diverse social backgrounds.
