About the role
The Senior Service Support Officer is responsible for supporting the Business Support Manager in the delivery of business and financial administration for the Highways Service. As a senior officer you will be required to deputise for the Business Support Manager if unavailable. You will also provide management support, guidance and cover for the Service Support Officers in the team.
You will have a leading role in the provision of timely factual financial and business performance and forecasting data to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong value for money proposition. You will ensure that customer service excellence is at the forefront of all your delivery activities with a drive to maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
You will work within the Business Support team to provide business support and assist in the delivery of a consistent finance and business support policies, processes, and systems across the service.
You will support the promotion of effective and efficient service delivery and support and improve the overall performance of all the administrative, financial, performance and systems activities within the Service.

About you
* A strong understanding and experience of invoicing, reconciliation, finance administration, and Account P2P processes.
* AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
* Experience of staff management/ team leadership.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills: Outstanding attention to detail with an analytical approach to data. Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues independently.
* Proficient in IT and financial systems: Excellent IT skills including MS Excel (pivot tables, v-look ups) and financial application or ERP software packages (e.g. Oracle).
* Ability to identify matters which require urgent attention and manage conflicting priorities and respond to unexpected demands.
