About The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person with a passion for achieving excellence to join the team as a Leaving Care Personal Advisor. The Onwards and Upwards team provide support to young people aged 17-25 who are looked after or leaving the care of the London Borough of Barnet.

About You

Dedicated to supporting young people to achieve their potential, you will hold a case load and provide a range of statutory support services to care leavers to help them achieve a successful transition to independent living. This will include working with young people who are unaccompanied asylum seekers, and young people who need help to live independently or secure employment or training opportunities. The work includes supporting young people with complex and diverse needs. The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience of direct work with young people aged 17 – 25 in a social care setting
- Knowledge of the looked after system and the needs of young people leaving care
- Enthusiasm and commitment and the ability to engage with a wide range of young people with varying needs
- An ability to work as part of a committed, hard-working team
- An ability to produce clear written records
- In order to support our young people we will require staff on site, although there are hybrid working arrangements and opportunities to work from home too.
The post holder will be based at the team office in North Finchley, N12, but will be supporting young people across the borough, and occasionally in neighbouring authorities. An ability to transport themselves and young people safely is essential.
