London Trading Standards Apprenticeship Coordinator – This is a part-time role, which the successful candidate would be required to work 30 hours per week. The salary range is £35,000-40,000 (pro-rata). This is a fixed term contract for up to 4 years.
Job Purpose:
To work within London Trading Standards to provide effective support to the apprentices, focusing on the best way to support learning and development to achieve their qualification. The post holder will also play an active part in ensuring managers and training provider meet the requirements of the contract.
Provide a detailed overview of the position. Include key responsibilities, what the role entails on a day-to-day basis, and how it fits into the wider school team. Highlight any specific projects or goals the role will focus on and the impact the successful candidate will make.
Key accountabilities:

  • To communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders in relation to apprentices and the apprenticeship programme.
  • Attend external events, providing up to date careers guidance to colleges and other external organisations at careers events and events promoting Trading Standards opportunities.
  • Flexible working – occasional evenings and/or weekends will be required to meet the responsibilities of this role. Some lone working involved.
  • Manage apprenticeship data and databases, ensuring all are kept up to date in accordance with organisational requirements, reporting expectations, the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
  • Track and record apprenticeship completions for all apprentices to establish destination and return on investment. Provide data to Regional Coordinator to support report writing and submission.
  • Provide daily support, specialist advice and guidance to all stakeholders involved in the Apprenticeship process/offer, through a good understanding of apprenticeships.
  • To coordinate apprenticeship opportunities including: liaising, supporting and advising managers on the process of utilising the apprenticeship programme.
  • Facilitate the apprenticeship enrolment process with Members to ensure a positive and timely experience is received by all.
  • Complete administration tasks associated with the organisations policies.
  • To attend relevant meetings and presentation events organised by relevant internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Meet the LTS Board/Policy Group demands from a data perspective for apprenticeship activity, ensuring deadlines are met, both monthly and quarterly.
  • Resolve day-to-day problems within the limits of own authority.
  • Provide feedback to the Regional Coordinator when quality matters arise or are identified.
  • To contribute to the evaluation and impact of the Apprenticeship programme, process and service provided by the team.
  • Liaise with managers throughout the Region, providing guidance associated to work streams, maintaining positive working relationships while promoting apprenticeships.
  • Assist in the development of projects and their implementation in response to local, regional, and national development in apprenticeship strategy and implementations.
  • Support promotional activities that support internal, local and national campaigns relating to Apprenticeships, attraction and retention.
  • Have knowledge of Safeguarding and relevant policies in relation to young people.
  • To share new ideas and opportunities with other team members and to identify and research new activities.
  • Meet tight deadlines which may require flexible working. Be expected to work independently and with autonomy. Make decisions within the limits of own authority.
  • Use own initiative to manage work volumes and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to attend external appointments/meetings.
  • Support the day to day, operational efficiency of the team’s workspace and functions, including security, maintenance and compliance with statuary requirements.
  • Carryout any other duties as requested by other team members and Management.

Financial responsibilities:

  • To work within London Trading Standard’s budget.

Health and safety responsibilities:

  • Complete mandatory health and safety training
  • Follow safe systems of wok and use devices/guards provided for safety.
  • Wear/use personal protection equipment were issued and instructed to do so, including lone working devices.
  • Report any Accident/Incidents/Hazards.
  • Take care of your own and other’s safety, health and wellbeing
