Who You Are

You are a highly experienced and autonomous social worker with substantial experience in a statutory Children's Social Care setting. You possess a recognized professional Social Work Qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW) and hold registration with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). You either have a Practice Educator qualification or are willing to achieve it within your first year of employment. Your extensive knowledge includes working within the frameworks of key legislation, such as The 1989 Children Act and Adoption and Children Act 2002. Your skill set includes engaging effectively with children and families, assessing their needs analytically, and applying theoretical frameworks and evidence-based models in practice. You are proficient in using IT tools like Microsoft Office and information management systems. You are committed to promoting equality and diversity within the workplace and are adept at building and maintaining professional relationships.

What the Job Involves

The job involves providing a comprehensive and effective integrated social work service within a Resilience framework to address complex situations involving children and their families. You will act as the lead in specialized areas, deputizing for the Team Manager when needed, and support less experienced social workers, including NQSWs. Your responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating safeguarding and permanence measures, managing your caseload alongside overseeing others, and ensuring statutory duties are met efficiently. Moreover, you will produce and present highly skilled reports, facilitate learning for trainee social workers, and contribute to Barnet Family Services as a learning organization. This role requires flexible working, including periodic on-site duty weeks, adhering to council regulations, and engaging in workshops to foster learning and development within the service area. A valid driving license and the ability to travel are desirable for this position.
