As our Electrical Installation Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and organisation of the Electrical Installation workshops at our Southgate campus. You will prepare workshops for practical sessions, provide technical support to lecturers and learners, deliver demonstrations modelling correct wiring techniques, safe isolation procedures and testing methods, and keep tools, equipment, training rigs and benches in excellent working order.

What You'll Be Doing
- Workshop preparation: Prepare, set up and maintain the Electrical Installation workshops for practical teaching sessions, ensuring all tools, equipment, components and consumables (including cables, accessories and containment) are ready, safe and fit for purpose.
- Technical support and demonstrations: Provide hands-on technical support to lecturers during practical lessons and assessments, and deliver demonstrations to learners modelling correct wiring techniques, safe isolation procedures, testing methods and effective use of electrical tools and equipment.
- Equipment and maintenance: Maintain, service and carry out basic repairs on tools, testing equipment, training rigs and benches, arranging specialist servicing and calibration where required.
- Health and safety: Maintain high standards of health and safety in the workshops at all times, carry out routine safety checks on tools, portable equipment and fixed installations, support risk assessments and COSHH documentation, and promote safe isolation and working practices with staff and learners.
- Stock and workshop management: Manage stock control, ordering and secure storage of materials, components and consumables within budget, keep workshops clean and organised to industry standards, and assist with the development of workshop layout, testing areas and training rigs.
- Learner support: Support learners during practical activities, assist with inductions covering workshop rules, PPE requirements and electrical safety expectations, and work collaboratively with teaching staff to support learner progress.
- Audits and inspections: Support audits, awarding body visits and external verification as required, maintaining accurate safety, testing and maintenance records throughout.
What You'll Bring
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation, or equivalent
- English and Maths at Level 2 or above
- Practical experience within the electrical installation trade or a workshop environment
- Experience maintaining electrical tools, equipment or training rigs
- Sound knowledge of electrical installation systems, tools and materials
- Strong awareness of electrical health and safety, including safe isolation procedures
- Ability to organise and manage a practical electrical workshop effectively
- Effective communication skills and a calm, confident, approachable manner with staff and learners
- Basic IT skills including email, inventory systems and digital record keeping
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding

- A Health and Safety qualification or electrical safety training
- A First Aid qualification
- Experience supporting a teaching or training environment
