Barnet & Southgate College is seeking a Media Production Technician to support teaching, learning and assessment across our Creative Industries provision. This is a practical, hands‑on role supporting delivery within TV studios, post‑production suites, sound facilities and specialist media spaces. Working closely with staff and students, the post holder will ensure equipment and environments are safe, well‑maintained and fit for high‑quality creative production.
The role is ideal for someone with strong media production or broadcast technical skills who enjoys supporting learners in an educational setting and contributing to a creative, professional studio culture.
About the RoleYou will provide technical support during lessons, assessments, productions and live events, enabling students to work confidently and safely with industry‑standard media equipment. You will maintain and manage technical resources, support creative projects and work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure sessions run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support across TV, audio, post‑production and media production environments
- Set up, operate and maintain media and studio equipment to professional standards
- Support students in the safe, effective and independent use of specialist media equipment
- Carry out routine equipment checks, basic maintenance, fault reporting and inventory control
- Support live events, recordings, productions and enrichment activity
- Work closely with teaching staff to meet technical requirements for lessons and assessments
- Uphold health & safety, safeguarding and equality policies at all times
- Contribute positively to the creative learning environment and departmental culture
- Be a trained first aider, keeping up to date with training as required.
- Hands‑on experience with media production, TV, audio or post‑production equipment
- Strong technical, organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Good awareness of health & safety in studio and production environments
- Ability to work effectively with staff and students
- Experience working in an education environment (desirable)
