Key Responsibilities
- Inspiring teaching: Deliver high-quality, inclusive Aviation Engineering sessions across a range of levels and abilities, combining strong subject knowledge with engaging, practical pedagogy.
- Learner success: Monitor and track learner progress, provide meaningful feedback and support students to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment or further study.
- Pastoral support: Act as Personal Tutor and/or Course Manager, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents, guardians and support agencies, and supporting learner wellbeing.
- Planning and preparation: Prepare effective schemes of work, lesson plans and assessments that are flexible, inclusive and embed English, Maths and functional skills.
Assessment and quality: Contribute to internal verification, quality assurance processes and compliance with awarding body requirements, including preparation for external inspection. - Industry links: Support the development of work placement opportunities and contribute to employer-engaged learning and enrichment activity.
- College community: Participate in recruitment, enrolment, parents evenings, marketing events and other college-wide activities.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Aviation Engineering discipline
- A teaching qualification (e.g. CertEd or equivalent), or commitment to achieving one within 2 years of appointment, supported through College Staff Development
- Experience teaching or training learners in an engineering or aviation-related subject
- Experience of planning, delivering and assessing learning programmes
- Experience supporting learners across a range of levels and abilities, including those with additional learning needs
- Strong subject knowledge in aviation engineering
- Good classroom management and learner engagement skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding
- A recognised industry or professional aviation qualification
- An assessor and/or Internal Verifier qualification
- Industry experience within the aviation or engineering sectors
- Experience of quality assurance, internal verification or inspection preparation
- Experience teaching across Levels 1 to 5
- Experience contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of work placement or employer-engaged learning
- Experience embedding English, Maths and functional skills into vocational delivery
