As our new Science Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across science programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, covering both practical and theory elements across BTEC, T Levels and other programmes. You will work closely with fellow science lecturers and our science technicians to give learners the best possible experience and help them achieve their potential, whether they are progressing to higher education, employment or further study within the college.
This is a department at an exciting point of development. The team is growing its student cohort and its programme offer, and is actively developing innovative new approaches to delivery, including making use of a dedicated immersive room that creates genuinely distinctive learning experiences for science students. There are also real opportunities to take on broader responsibilities as the department grows, including course leadership and IQA roles, for those who want them.

What You'll Be Doing
- Inspiring teaching: Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality, engaging science lessons across BTEC, T Level and other programmes at Levels 1 to 3, including both practical and theory sessions.
- Innovative delivery: Contribute to the development of new and creative approaches to teaching and learning, including making use of the department's immersive room to offer learners a distinctive and exciting programme of study.
- Learner success: Track learner progress, maintain accurate records and submit required data promptly, supporting learners to meet assessment deadlines and achieve strong outcomes.
- Curriculum development: Contribute to the science team by developing new curriculum materials, liaising with part-time colleagues and attending team meetings.
- Pastoral support: Act as personal tutor to a group of students, attend course tutor meetings and keep parents and guardians informed about learning, behaviour, safeguarding and other key matters.
- Professional development: Engage in CPD, including industrial placement opportunities where appropriate, to keep your subject knowledge current and enhance your teaching practice.
- Wider contribution: Liaise with colleagues, management and external stakeholders, and contribute to the department's continued growth and improvement.

Essential
- A relevant subject degree in a science discipline
- A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
- Recent, successful experience of teaching T Levels and/or BTEC across a range of levels and age groups
- Experience of and commitment to working with students from a diversity of backgrounds and with a range of abilities
- A flexible approach to teaching methods, with an innovative and enthusiastic attitude to the subjects you teach
- Proven classroom management and administrative skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the empathic skills needed to work effectively as a course tutor
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and under pressure to meet deadlines
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding
Even Better If You Have...
- Knowledge of chemistry, physics and biology to Level 4 or above
- Experience of curriculum development
- Ability to make effective and innovative use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, including digital and immersive tools
- Experience of or interest in taking on course leadership or IQA responsibilities
