Please note that this role is a Fixed-term Maternity Leave cover from August 2026 to July 2027. We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Art & Design Teacher to lead our Level 3 UAL Art & Design courses on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and committed educator to inspire and support students in developing their artistic practice, technical skills, and creative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, innovative lessons that foster creativity and encourage high levels of student achievement.
  • You will demonstrate excellent teaching practice and a passion for supporting learners to reach their full potential.
  • You will have experience teaching and demonstrating a broad range of creative disciplines across 2D, 3D, and 4D design at Level 3, alongside a strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A solid understanding of contemporary art and design practices, materials, and processes within both studio and workshop environments is essential.
  • You should be confident in using Microsoft Office and digital learning technologies (ILT) to enhance teaching and learning both in and beyond the classroom.
  • A proven ability to embed employability skills, as well as English and maths, into the curriculum is also required.
  • As Course Leader, you will take responsibility for curriculum planning, assignment delivery, assessment and feedback, and monitoring student attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • You will maintain accurate student records and contribute to internal verification and standardisation processes in line with UAL awarding body requirements.
  • In your role as a personal tutor, you will provide effective pastoral support, including one-to-one progress reviews, and offer guidance on progression opportunities and career pathways within the creative industries.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • We are looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can build positive relationships with students and colleagues alike.
  • Essential requirements:
  • BA (Hons) in Art & Design or a related creative discipline
  • A recognised UK teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching at Level 3 or equivalent within Art & Design
