As our new Childcare Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across a diverse range of programmes within our Education and Care department at Wood Street Campus. You will teach Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning courses from Level 1 to Level 6, including T Level Early Years and Higher Education programmes, helping learners at every stage develop the knowledge, skills and professional values they need to thrive in the sector.

This role is available full time (35 hours per week) or part time — please indicate your preference in your application. You will take on personal tutor and course leader responsibilities, support learner progress from enrolment through to achievement, and contribute actively to curriculum development, quality assurance and the wider life of the department.

Our Education and Care department delivers one of the broadest childcare and education programmes in the college, spanning the full learner journey from Level 1 through to Higher Education. You will be joining a team that takes its professional responsibility seriously, values industry expertise and is committed to ensuring every learner who comes through its doors leaves better prepared for a meaningful career working with children and young people.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Inspiring teaching: Deliver high-quality, motivating and inclusive sessions across Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning programmes at Levels 1 to 6, including T Level Early Years and HE programmes, adapting your approach to suit learners of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.
  • Learner success: Monitor and track learner progress, maintain accurate records and statistical data, and ensure learners are supported through assessment, work placements and progression to employment or further study.
  • Course leadership: Act as Personal Tutor and/or Course Leader, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents and guardians, leading quality assurance activity and supporting the smooth running of your programme areas.
  • Curriculum development: Contribute enthusiastically to curriculum planning, development and improvement, individually and as part of the Education and Care team, keeping provision current and aligned to sector and awarding body requirements.
  • Work placements: Support the development and management of safe, appropriate work placement opportunities for learners, helping them connect their learning to real practice in childcare and education settings.
  • Wider contribution: Participate in induction, advice and guidance events, open days, parents evenings and enrolment, and contribute to the College's quality assurance and inspection preparation processes.

What You'll Bring:

We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic childcare professional who is committed to both high-quality teaching and the success of every learner.

Essential:

  • A relevant degree in Early Years, Childcare, Education or a closely related subject
  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/CertEd or equivalent)
  • Relevant vocational experience in childcare, Early Years or a related sector
  • Successful teaching experience including the delivery and assessment of Supporting Teaching and Learning courses
  • Experience of teaching learners across a range of abilities, ages and backgrounds
  • Proven classroom management and administrative skills
  • Good IT skills and ability to contribute to the development of ILT strategies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, under pressure and to deadlines
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding

Even Better If You Have:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant subject
  • An assessor award or Internal Quality Assurance qualification
  • Experience delivering T Level Early Years provision
  • Experience of curriculum development

Potential Interview Dates: Week commencing 15th June 2026.
