Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) - Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and national HSE legislation, company policies, and standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001). Risk Management: Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of safe systems of work. Incident Management: Oversee investigations of accidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are addressed with sustainable corrective actions. Training & Culture: Develop and deliver HSE training programs, championing a proactive safety and sustainability culture across all levels. Auditing & Reporting: Manage internal/external audits, maintain documentation, and report performance indicators to senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Continuous Improvement (CI) - Process Optimisation: Analyse business processes to identify inefficiencies, waste, and improvement opportunities. Strategy Implementation: Design and execute CI plans using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies. Project Management: Lead cross-functional projects to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and sustainability, tracking KPIs. Change Management: Drive cultural change, secure stakeholder buy-in, and mentor staff in CI and sustainability principles.
- Facilities Management (FM) - Operations Oversight: Manage day-to-day facilities operations, including building maintenance, utilities, and workplace services. Compliance & Safety: Ensure facilities meet statutory requirements (fire safety, accessibility, environmental standards) and align with HSE policies. Asset Management: Oversee maintenance schedules, service contracts, and lifecycle planning for equipment and infrastructure. Sustainability & Energy Conservation: Implement energy efficiency programs (e.g., LED lighting, smart building systems, renewable energy integration). Drive waste reduction, recycling, and carbon footprint minimisation initiatives. Monitor energy usage and environmental performance, reporting progress against sustainability targets.
- Vendor & Budget Management: Negotiate with suppliers, manage contracts, and control budgets for facilities-related services. Business Continuity: Develop contingency plans for facility-related risks, ensuring resilience and minimal disruption to operations.
Job Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree in HSE Management, Engineering, or related field. NEBOSH Certification/Diploma and CMIOSH status (Chartered Member of IOSH) desired. Lean/Six Sigma certification highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and risk assessment. Facilities management expertise (maintenance, compliance, sustainability, energy conservation). Data analysis and project management proficiency. Experience with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) desired.
- Soft Skills: Leadership, communication, and influencing skills. Problem-solving and analytical abilities. Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Experience: Several years in management or advisory roles. Background in high-hazard industries such as manufacturing, construction, energy, or facilities-intensive environments.
