We are excited to be recruiting for a Software Engineer to join our client based in Fareham, Hampshire. Our client is an electronic and aerospace company specialising in cutting edge UAV development. They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of UAVs for various aerospace applications. This position requires a strong understanding of air-frame, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as proficiency in relevant software tools. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for aviation technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop airframe and avionics systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate avionics components into larger systems.
  • Take part in weekly flight testing.
  • Conduct system design analysis and simulations using tools such as SolidWorks and Simulink.
  • Create and interpret schematics, ensuring accurate representation of system designs.
  • Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Utilise CAD software for detailed design documentation and modifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in UAV engineering.

About You / Experience required:

  • Strong understanding of air-frame, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proven experience in aerodynamic, avionics or aerospace engineering is essential.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is required.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of flight controllers and system design principles.
  • Ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and passion for aviation technology.
  • Experience in RC hobby flying of fixed wings and understanding the concepts of Ardupilot or INAV would be preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passionate about UAV engineering and eager to contribute to innovative aerospace projects.
  • Willingness to travel outside of the UK.
