Barnardo's is seeking a Therapeutic Children's Domestic Abuse Worker, in partnership with Women's Aid charity The Haven Wolverhampton, to offer vital support to children and young people victims of domestic abuse living in the Wolverhampton community, with or without the perpetrator. Children were officially recognised by the British government as victims in their own right in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. Barnardo's and The Haven Wolverhampton stand with child victims of domestic abuse to ensure they are listened to and supported properly.
We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and empathetic Therapeutic Children's Domestic Abuse Worker who is committed to making a difference to young people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged, and victims of domestic abuse. Our worker will support children to navigate and recover from trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), uphold trauma-informed practice, professional curiosity, and the safeguarding and protection of children as the priority in their work.
The Therapeutic Children's Domestic Abuse Worker will understand how childhood trauma can negatively impact child victims well into adulthood, while having a strong enthusiasm for offering positive guidance and efficient support to motivate change, acting as a professional role model and making an impact on real lives. This role will be based solely in the Wolverhampton area and the Therapeutic Children's Domestic Abuse Worker must have experience of working with children who have been subjected to traumatic and stressful situations.
The person we are seeking must have strong communication skills with an ability to communicate well to young people, while building an excellent and trusted professional rapport with those it is supporting. We are looking for an individual who is a creative and energetic self-starter whose professionalism and enthusiasm will result in positive outcomes for children recovering from abuse.

Pay & Reward Framework
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people. For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.
Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band β this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
