Location: Stratford District Children & Family Centres, Warwickshire (open throughout the year). Areas covered: Stratford upon Avon, Alcester, and Lighthorne Heath.

Role Summary: The Practitioner will deliver direct services to families through one-to-one support, groups, activities and courses. Services are provided in person, by phone or virtual platforms, with a focus on children aged 0‑11 and supporting their parents. The role covers the school holidays and may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer fun and engaging activities to support children to develop positive social and emotional skills.
  • Offer engaging groups for young people.
  • Plan activities in line with the EYFS.
  • Build positive relationships with parents/carers.
  • Hold sometimes difficult/challenging conversations with parents.
  • Provide advice, support, signpost and refer parents to appropriate services.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 childcare qualification or higher (or experience that demonstrates competence).
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS.
  • Experience of working with and supporting young children and their parents/carers.
  • Confidence in communicating effectively with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Competence in IT and email, working with Word and other Microsoft packages.
  • Experience of delivering Early Years' services in community settings is desirable.
  • Qualified to deliver Baby Massage and Chatter Matter's courses is desirable.
  • Own transport to work across Stratford District for outreach work.

Work Hours & Flexibility:

This role is As and When covering school holidays. The postholder may be asked to work evenings and weekends.

Employment Conditions:

Pay is based on Barnardo's pay framework. Salary range is advertised and appointments start at the minimum to mid‑point of the pay band.
