Location: Stratford District Children & Family Centres, Warwickshire (open throughout the year). Areas covered: Stratford upon Avon, Alcester, and Lighthorne Heath.
Role Summary: The Practitioner will deliver direct services to families through one-to-one support, groups, activities and courses. Services are provided in person, by phone or virtual platforms, with a focus on children aged 0‑11 and supporting their parents. The role covers the school holidays and may include evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer fun and engaging activities to support children to develop positive social and emotional skills.
- Offer engaging groups for young people.
- Plan activities in line with the EYFS.
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers.
- Hold sometimes difficult/challenging conversations with parents.
- Provide advice, support, signpost and refer parents to appropriate services.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Level 2 childcare qualification or higher (or experience that demonstrates competence).
- Knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS.
- Experience of working with and supporting young children and their parents/carers.
- Confidence in communicating effectively with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals.
- Competence in IT and email, working with Word and other Microsoft packages.
- Experience of delivering Early Years' services in community settings is desirable.
- Qualified to deliver Baby Massage and Chatter Matter's courses is desirable.
- Own transport to work across Stratford District for outreach work.
Work Hours & Flexibility:
This role is As and When covering school holidays. The postholder may be asked to work evenings and weekends.
Employment Conditions:
Pay is based on Barnardo's pay framework. Salary range is advertised and appointments start at the minimum to mid‑point of the pay band.
