Are you passionate about empowering young people and helping them reach their full potential? Barnardo's are looking for creative, nurturing and motivated individuals to join our friendly team at our 16+ Glasgow Service. In this role, you'll be supporting young people aged 16-25 living in shared accommodation and in the community as they work toward independence.
Hours / Shift Pattern: 37 hours per week. Shifts include sleepovers, day shift and back shift; this includes weekend work.
The Glasgow 16+ service has over 30 years' experience of supporting care leavers within Glasgow through our housing support services. Our housing support services include 2 residential accommodations for young people to group live to develop their skills within a group setting with staff support. We also have 18 flats within Glasgow which we offer outreach services to.
As a Housing Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one support, encouraging young people to maintain their accommodation, build positive relationships with neighbours, safeguard their wellbeing, and access local community services.
- Designing and delivering flexible, individualised programmes that reflect each young person's needs, aspirations, and goals.
- Managing challenging behaviour constructively while maintaining professional boundaries, safety, and openness.
- Producing clear written reports, maintaining accurate records within an open recording system, and encouraging young people to contribute to their own documentation.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding leaving care and social inclusion.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including sleep-ins.
