Working Hours: The successful candidate will work night shifts, typically on a "2-on 6-off" rota. The service operates 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Night Project Workers cover shifts from 21:30 to 08:30.
Responsibilities:
- Work alone for part of the shift, staying awake on site and covering 7 nights a week on a shift rota.
- Safeguard the young people within the service, reporting and responding to safeguarding issues and accessing support from relevant services and managers as necessary.
- Ensure all young people adhere to the House Code.
- Contact emergency services as required to handle incidents.
- Develop positive and professional relationships with young people through listening and one‑to‑one conversations.
- Maintain an open and flexible approach to working with young people and possess a good knowledge of managing challenging behaviour.
- Perform general housekeeping and domestic tasks to maintain living standards, including void room cleans, office and communal area cleans.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of young people during the night.
- Maintain building security, including access control, CCTV monitoring, fire drill arrangements, and health & safety procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of communal areas during the night.
- Complete a handover process with incoming staff each morning, highlighting any issues or incidents.
- Record telephone calls, incidents, conversations, repairs or faults in the system and include them in the handover process with day staff.
- Contact service managers as necessary to report any urgent or serious issues or incidents.
