Part-Time Receptionist/Admin Assistant (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking to appoint a part-time Receptionist/Admin Assistant to provide maternity cover. Barnardo's delivers services across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, to meet the needs of vulnerable children, young people and families through a range of targeted interventions. Our work is underpinned by a consistent, strengths-based approach that focuses on improving outcomes for children, young people and their families.

The Role

Based within the Administration Team at Ely Family Centre, Cardiff, this role provides front-of-house and administrative support to the Cardiff and Vale Services, as well as the Cymru National Office. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a welcoming reception and telephone service for children, young people, families and visitors
  • Managing room bookings and maintaining attendance records
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail and managing deliveries
  • Responding to general enquiries by telephone and email
  • Processing service referrals and maintaining accurate service user records in line with GDPR requirements
  • Providing administrative support to Cardiff and Vale Services as required
  • Collating data and assisting with statistical reporting
  • Managing diaries, arranging meetings and events, and taking minutes when required
  • Supporting health and safety and facilities-related tasks

About You

You will have:

  • Previous experience working in an administrative or office-based environment
  • Experience using IT systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and Windows applications
  • Experience in a reception or customer-facing role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with staff, young people and visitors
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • The ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to positive team working
