Midlands ETS is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of English to join our Study Programme team. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills English to our students, helping them to develop confidence, make progress, and achieve their full potential. This role will be based in our Centre in Chelmsley Wood and will be offered on a 42 week term time only basis.

This is an exciting chance to become part of a vibrant, supportive, small team dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience. You will deliver engaging teaching, learning, and assessment that supports all students from a wide range of educational backgrounds, helping them progress confidently into further study, apprenticeships, or employment. Many of our learners have Special Educational Needs.

You will need to apply effective behaviour management strategies and work collaboratively with the whole team, contributing positively to the wider student journey.

The successful application will need to/have the following:

  • Be an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a passion for English education.
  • Experience of supporting learners with Special Educational Needs.
  • Previous experience of teaching GCSE Functional Skills English.
  • Have strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Have confidence in using IT to support teaching and learning.
  • Hold at least a Level 3 qualification in English.
  • Gained a recognised Level 5 or Level 6 teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or CertEd, or you should be willing to work towards this.
  • Bring flexibility, innovation and a positive approach to supporting learners to achieve their goals.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band; this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.

Annual Leave entitlement for full-time colleagues is 26 days per annum, increasing to 27 days per annum, after 3 years Barnardo's service, 29 days per annum, after 5 years Barnardo's service and 30 days per annum, after 7 years Barnardo's service. Those working less than full time are entitled to the same level of holiday pro rata.
