Are you ready for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for working with children and young people, and making a lasting impact on their lives? We\’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to join our new Emotional Wellbeing Assessment Home on a full-time permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative service supporting vulnerable children and young people aged 8–18 through short-term placements designed to assess and understand their needs.
Location of the post: Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Jarvis House is our beautiful new Emotional Wellbeing Assessment Home offering short-term placements for children and young people aged 8 to 18, providing a safe and supportive environment while their individual needs are fully assessed and understood.
With capacity for up to three young people at a time, the home creates opportunities for them to enjoy new experiences, build friendships, and develop essential life skills—including confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.
Key Responsibilities
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading the team and ensuring the highest standards of care. Your duties will include:
- Building trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence, wellbeing, and personal growth.
- Collaborating with parents/carers and professionals to ensure holistic support.
- Leading shifts and supervising staff.
- Assisting with audits and operational duties.
- Contributing to the upkeep of the home, including domestic tasks.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are followed.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, your application must demonstrate:
- A Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People\’s Services, or willingness to work towards it.
- At least 1 year of supervisory/shift-leading experience in a children\’s residential setting.
- Strong knowledge of OFSTED Regulations and Quality Standards, with the ability to support the service in achieving an “Outstanding” rating.
- Experience in safeguarding, including accurate recording and reporting.

Barnardo\’s, the UK\’s largest children\’s charity, is proud to be working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council on an innovative journey to deliver a range of children\’s homes for the most vulnerable children and young people in the region.
While this home will be your primary base, flexibility to travel across Leicestershire to support other homes may be required from time to time.
