Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working with core hours of 10am-4pm.

The Opportunity:

We are delighted to be recruiting for both Senior and Principal Transport Planners to join a fast-growing, award-winning engineering and transport planning consultancy with offices in Fareham and Cambridgeshire. These are excellent opportunities for experienced transport planning professionals looking to play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK. You will work within an established and expanding Transport Planning team, taking responsibility for managing projects, supporting clients, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the business. The Principal Transport Planner role will additionally involve a stronger focus on team leadership, business development, client management, and strategic project oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage transport planning projects from inception through to completion
  • Prepare, review, and approve high-quality technical reports and assessments
  • Manage project budgets, programmes, and resource allocation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders
  • Oversee and review planning drawings and access strategies
  • Undertake and review junction modelling assessments using relevant industry software and methodologies
  • Prepare access appraisals and provide practical design solutions and strategic advice to clients
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, and business development activities
  • Contribute to the growth and success of the wider transport planning team

About You:

We are keen to hear from candidates who are commercially aware, technically strong, and passionate about delivering high-quality transport planning solutions.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years Transport Planning experience for Senior level
  • Significant consultancy experience and leadership capability for Principal level
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Experience producing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and technical reports
  • Good understanding of junction modelling software and transport planning methodologies
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and delegate where appropriate
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to support projects outside direct responsibility through technical guidance and client engagement
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (or working towards) would be advantageous
