Role Overview
As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high‑impact research – designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm. This role sits within the Basecamp Technology group, providing specialised engineering capabilities and scalable components to our Research and Trade Technology groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the team responsible for enabling quantitative researchers to efficiently utilise a large‑scale compute estate.
- Setting technical direction and overseeing systems that simplify running workloads across large‑scale compute farms, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Owning the strategy and evolution of the scheduling platform (F#) and its Python/.NET interfaces, the primary tools used by researchers.
- Guiding the development of real‑time observability tooling, such as TypeScript/React, F#, ASP.NET and Postgres on Kubernetes, to provide clear visibility into workload execution.
Qualifications
- Experience leading teams building distributed, high‑performance or compute‑intensive systems.
- Familiarity with research or data‑driven workflows.
- Experience delivering reliable, scalable production systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work closely with researchers and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
