We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity. From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution—because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.

As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research—designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm. Take the next step in your career.

This role sits within the Basecamp Technology group, providing specialised engineering capabilities and scalable components to our Research and Trade Technology groups. You will design, build and operate solutions that improve developer and research experience across the organisation.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the strategy, design and delivery of critical engineering and research-facing systems. You will guide and grow a team of talented engineers working closely with stakeholders to build out our best-in-class tooling. You will play a key role in building an in-house storage platform, reducing reliance on external vendors and improving cost efficiency, performance and research capability. You will lead a high-impact team delivering a phased roadmap from data orchestration and tiering to a fully productionised storage platform.

Key responsibilities:
  • Leading strategy, design, delivery and operations
  • Managing a team of high-performing engineers
  • Driving the architecture and execution of:
    • Storage abstraction layer
    • Tiering and data orchestration tooling
    • In-house storage platform design and rollout
  • Driving continuous optimisation, reliability and performance improvements across distributed systems
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Research and Technology
  • Influencing long-term vision in partnership with Architecture
Who are we looking for?
  • Proven ability to lead strategy, design, delivery and operations for large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Strong track record owning end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-phase initiatives
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability
  • Experience driving continuous optimisation and performance improvements in production environments
  • Great communication and collaboration skills
Why should you apply?
  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 35 days’ annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events
