My client is on the lookout for an ambitious and talented Enterprise Risk Manager to support the embedding of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). The successful incumbent is expected to be proactive, organised and comfortable managing their own workload - and capable of dealing with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation to support a positive risk management culture. Key Role Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to enhance the maturity and successfully embed the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF).
- Assist the development and implementation of processes, procedures and guidance to ensure risk management is applied consistently across the organisation.
- Design and deliver risk-related training to enhance understanding of risk across the organisation, and to support consistent application of the framework.
- Support colleagues to identify their key operational and conduct risks, and to formulate appropriate action plans to ensure these are managed within risk appetite.
- Develop appropriate key risk indicators (KRIs) and set appropriate risk appetite to ensure committee reporting supports effective risk management and decision‑making.
- Carry out risk and control self‑assessments (RCSAs); documenting risks in accordance with the risk taxonomy which you will help to effectively maintain.
- Oversee ongoing implementation of the risk framework by providing robust assurance in relation to aspects such as RCSAs, local risk registers, and KRI reporting.
- Provide appropriate risk management reporting to the relevant Committees, identifying whether the business is operating within risk appetite and limits.
- Own the risk event (business incident) process and coordinate actions to ensure these events are appropriately managed, reported and resolved.
- Support change with advice and guidance around risk identification, assessment and management for new initiatives, projects and product development.
- Empower colleagues to identify and report on their own issues and emerging risks, and whether these are caused by internal or external factors.
- Conduct trend analysis and other thematic review activity, helping to identify and recommend areas for improvement, and oversee tracking through to completion.
- Prepare papers and act as Chair for Committees as and when required.
- Administer and manage the internal Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) system.
- Maintain all risk policy framework and governance documentation to a high standard.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong Enterprise and/or Operational Risk management experience within a Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulated organisation, ideally Retail-focused.
- Broad knowledge of risk management best practices and their application within the FCA’s regulatory framework.
- Ability to identify and drive improvements to the risk management framework, providing constructive challenge to promote the most effective ways of working.
- Ability to work with colleagues at all levels across an organisation, to gain the confidence of senior management and challenge the status quo.
- Superior problem‑solving skills and a strategic forward‑thinker who can grasp concepts quickly to deliver a reasoned investigation and analysis.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- A self‑starter with excellent attention to detail.
